For those who are not familiar with the term Android rooting, you can stick around to find out. Android rooting is the process of unlocking the operating system (OS) of an android phone to make it easy for installation of unapproved apps and many other features.
If an android phone is properly rooted, the user would be able to install special apps, custom ROMs, upgrade the features of the phone making it more efficient. In addition activities like updating of the OS, replacement of the firmware, over-clocking or under-clocking of the processor and so on can be achieved after rooting.
On the other hand, if Rooting is not carefully done it poses a grave danger to the phone. It could lead to bricking (i.e. rendering a phone useless due to configuration or corrupted firmware or hardware issues). A bricked phone is a lifeless, square object useful only as a paperweight.
Rooting should be approached with caution because it voids your warranty and also makes it venerable to some security risks.
Rooting is not difficult. It can be done in few steps using two recent rooting programs:

HOW TO ROOT WITH TOWELROOT
Rooting through Towelroot is very easy. It does not require downloading and running a program on your computer but through the app on your phone. One issue with this method is that it only works with devices that have a kernel bill date earlier than June 3, 2014.
To root with Towelroot:
- Enable unknown source from your device. Click settings, then Security and you get to Unknown Sources. With this enabled you will be able to download apps beyond Google Play store.

HOW TO ROOT WITH KINGO
Kingo is a new free Windows utility that has made the rooting process very easy and safe. To start, you need to check your phone’s compatibility here. Be mindful though that even if your device is not on the list, it is possible for it to still work.
- Download and Install Kingo Android Root
- Enable the USB debugging mode on your phone.
- Run the Kingo program on your PC and connect your Android to the PC using your USB cable.
- After the detection of your device, a message will appear to confirm your instruction. Select root and wait. After few minutes the utility will complete the process.
However, after completion of the rooting process, you need to confirm that the device was successfully rooted. This can be done by downloading Root Checker from Google Play store. After downloading it just run the app to check the status.
As mention above that rooting makes your phone more vulnerable to security threats which is resolvable by the installation of a root management app called SuperSU. So install and run SuperSu on your phone to guide against unwarranted security risks.
The app lets you allow or deny sites’ requests for super user permission. It tracks permissible apps.
Meanwhile, if you want to return your phone to its former state it is simple, just run Android Root again, connect your phone and click Remove Root.
